Memorial Service for Patrick Watkins Monday, July 20, 2010South Metro Tigers and Minnesota Selects player Patrick Watkins was killed in the car crash in NE Minneapolis on July 13th. For Patrick his rugby team was in many ways his family, and that extended to both South Metro and Metropolis, as all the guys on our club made him and his friends feel included, feel like they were part of something big, with lots of great men who cared about them.
Here is a video that Michael Aloha has posted on YouTube and for those who might not remember South Metro's 8man...who dreamed of one day playing for Metropolis, here's a fitting reminder of Patrick Watkins playing the game he loved so much, and while displaying his brilliance on the field, the ending shows he was a true leader on and off the pitch and will be sorely missed.

Day of Rugby--May 1, 2010
May will be here faster than we know. As much as we have been preparing for the nationals match over the past few weeks, certain club members have been preparing for this big and important day for Metropolis. Prior communications have detailed four games. However, we have recently added a fifth. There will be a U17, a U19, a collegiate, a D3, and a D1 match. Besides two wins, the goal of the day is to increase the visibility of the club, and the game of rugby, in the area. Right now, it's looking like the D1s will be playing either of the Atlanta squads or Miami, but that is yet to be determined. As I mentioned before, if you can help out at all, please let me know.
As if five matches isn't enough, Saturday night brings our Spring Fundraiser. Start thinking about selling wristbands, because you know you'll have to. Plus, once you get them sold, you can focus on how much fun you'll have!
